From the person who's taking up an extra seat on the 'T' to those who forget their headphones at home, PRT's etiquette campaign aims to remind riders to be just a little more considerate of others.
The humble pickle -- the combination of a cucumber, brine, and time -- has become the unofficial mascot of Pittsburgh. From the Heinz pickle pins that were introduced at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago to everyone's favorite summer event, Picklesburgh, the pickle has earned a pivotal place in Pittsburgh's prominent past.
Through 2024, Pittsburgh Regional Transit worked to identify the top complaints about rider behavior. After narrowing ideas down to the pickle concept, we brought it to RedHouse Communications to design the artwork. Once we had the artwork, we took the campaign to the Committee for Accessible Transit and the Allegheny County Transit Council for review. We made a few tweaks and got ready for distribution.
