Since 1968, our police department has been dedicated to the security and protection of riders, employees and facilities.
Our 47 full-time police officers respond to and investigate crimes that are directly related to our transit services, employing policing strategies directed at reducing crime, and keeping citizens safe throughout Allegheny County.
We work in partnership with other law enforcement and public safety agencies, transit employees and customers to meet the needs of a growing region and address our public safety challenges. We value diversity and believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity. Our goal is to provide professional, fair, and impartial law enforcement services to the entire community.
The success of our mission is dependent upon a partnership with our community members and their willingness to participate. I want to remind you that if you see something suspicious happening, say something immediately by calling police. You may remain anonymous when providing any crime tip or while reporting suspicious activity.
If you have an emergency on a vehicle, please call 412-255-1385 or 911.
I am proud of our transit police officers and their commitment to excellence in policing and public service.
Very respectfully,
Chief Matthew Porter
