On Saturday, March 15, nearly 50 bus routes will be detoured in downtown Pittsburgh for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Most detours will begin around 7 a.m. for parade setup and will last until police reopen streets around 3:30 p.m. Routes that serve Boulevard of the Allies will return to regular schedules by 5 p.m.

Due to the location of the parade route, many bus routes won't be able to serve stops that are more centrally located in downtown. Instead, buses will remain on the periphery of downtown and will drop riders off at light-rail stations.

Riders who want to continue into the heart of downtown can transfer for free to light-rail cars from Station Square Station or Penn Station on the East Busway.

From about 7 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m., a light-rail shuttle will operate between the center platform of Steel Plaza to the outbound platform of Penn Station.

Start times are approximate and are effective with the closure of the parade route and reopening of streets by Pittsburgh police afterward.

Riders should allow for extra time when traveling on detoured bus routes.
